The Village of Central Lake
The village of Central Lake is located in beautiful northern lower Michigan
Situated on the shores of Intermediate Lake and tucked into a glacial valley, we are surrounded by natural splendor four seasons a year.
Our village population is 990 and our total area is 1.2 square miles. Within that area we have a campground, a public beach, a softball field, and a downtown that offers something for everyone.
We are proud to have many service organizations in the village. The Lions, the AMVETS, and the Friends of the Veterans are all a vital part of our community. We also have an active garden club, historical society, numerous churches, and a district library.
Central Lake had its first postmaster in 1869, was platted in 1883, and was incorporated twelve years later in 1895.
The village’s name comes from our location near the center of a 75 mile Chain of Lakes that stretches from Ellsworth to Grand Traverse Bay.
Central Lake offers a range of amenities and attractions that cater to residents and visitors alike. We take pride in our picturesque campground, providing an idyllic setting for outdoor enthusiasts to experience the beauty of nature and create lasting memories.
Our public beach invites sun-seekers to bask in the sunshine, swim in the clear waters, and enjoy the sandy shoreline.
Sports enthusiasts can take delight in our softball field, where friendly competitions and community events bring people together. Meanwhile, our charming downtown area is brimming with a diverse array of shops, boutiques, and eateries, ensuring that there’s always something to entice every taste and interest.
Culture and history are alive in Central Lake through our active garden club, historical society, numerous churches, and district library. These institutions provide opportunities for personal growth, community engagement, and preserving our rich heritage.
The Village of Central Lake is more than just a place on the map; it’s a close-knit community where neighbors become friends and everyone is greeted with a welcoming smile. We encourage active participation and engagement from residents and visitors alike, as your voices and contributions shape the ongoing development and prosperity of our village.
